In an atmosphere filled with optimistic energy, amongst a huge crowd of friends and guests, Dr. Tallal Turfe presented his new book, “Energy in Islam: A
Scientific Approach to Preserving Our Health and the Environment”, on Saturday, February 26, 2011 under the auspices of the Marjaeya, His Eminence Imam Abdul-Latif Berry, and the Islamic Institute of Knowledge in Dearborn. Over 500 members of the community, including members of the clergy and unity leaders attended the ceremony during which Dr. Turfe provided a preview of the book.
Discussing the scientific concept of energy in Islam, Dr. Turfe said: "This book is written to explore the concept of energy and how it affects the Universe, the Earth, and our daily lives. Aside from the spiritual aspect, not too much has been written on the subject of energy as it relates to Islam. It is hoped that Islamic scholars will use this book as a benchmark to further research and explore the importance of energy."
He then added, "Each of us goes through life wanting to understand more about God’s Creation and how we live and function within it. Knowledge affords us the opportunity to have a deeper sense of appreciation for the marvels of existence and how we can equip ourselves to be better Muslims. As we strive towards self-actualization, we find ourselves thirsty and eager to learn even more about Islam. This book will enlighten those who wish to reflect on Islam, with particular focus on a fascinating and illuminating concept - energy!"
The program also included words of wisdom delivered by the Marjaeya, His Eminence Imam Abdul-Latif Berry, elaborating on the high value of Dr. Turfe's book and its scientific depth. The IIOK and its Board of Directors extend their heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Turfe for his continued contributions to this community and to Islam.
